History of NELI

"Content was unparalleled, and all 4 presenters were engaging. The best employment-related training out there." —Attorney Federal Reserve Bank, Chicago, IL

In 1976, John Fischer saw a need in the rapidly expanding employment law community for education about the nuances of the various components of discrimination law. He founded “Equal Employment Education Programs,” with his wife, Alexis, and together with colleagues actively practicing employment law, they began to hold educational programs around the country offering “continuing legal education,” now commonly referred to as CLE.

As the practice of discrimination law gained more and more ground with the passage of the ADA and FMLA, and with increased case law developments in all levels of the judiciary and the EEOC, the breadth of the programs offered continue to grow.

We became the National Employment Law Institute in 1984. John and Alexis ran the business with a close-knit, small group of employees for many years. In 2011 John and Alexis’ daughter, Sascha, together with her husband, Todd Miller, took over NELI.

Our team is proud of our roots and continue to operate as a small, family-run business, delivering exeptional continuing legal education.
